REACT…Chatting with my sister-friend…DEUXIÈME PARTIE (part 2)

So this is the second part of my chat with my lovely and talented sister-friend about her journey to the threshold of her 4oth birthday…

OK sweetheart, all this MATURING has changed us in many ways…tell me,  from when you wanted to be an adult, way back in your late teens, to now that YOU ARE AN ADULT…how has your strategy in dealing with the following changed:

DIFFICULT SITUATIONS

TRANSLATION:

DIFFICULT SITUATIONS: I’ve got complete faith in God and Optimism that things will resolve themselves in my favor and according to what has to be. I put myself in God’s hands everyday to be able to overcome what may come and to be a good person… …I rely on my family whose always watching out for me.

OH YES, I so agree, God and Family an infalible equation in living a full and well guided life.

DIFFICULT PEOPLE

TRANSLATION:

DIFFICULT PEOPLE: We can find them everywhere, in our day to day, they are part of our lives. They are annoying but I try not to let them sour my existance. I remind myself that their difficult attitudes have NOTHING TO DO WITH ME, it’s theirs to deal with. And when I’m the difficult one, I give myself a time out to avoid going around in a grumpy mood. I’m human. It happens.

Aaaajajajaa I think I’m more human than you sister!! And I don’t give myself a time out, I sit down and write a post to get a grip on my feelings and sort them out before all hell breaks loose

CRITICISM

the world becomes a better and HAPPIER place, as I once said on a post:

HAPPINESS CAN BE CONTAGIOUS

TRY IT!!

YOU’LL SHINE

YOUR SMILE WILL BE BRIGHTER

YOUR EYES WILL SPARKLE

YOU’LL LOOK AND FEEL YOUNGER

REJUVENATED

give yourself the chance,

YOU’LL BE HAPPY YOU DID!

why does it takes us so long to believe and practice it? BETTER NOW (’cause it’s not LATE) THAN NEVER!!

MISTAKES & PRIORITIES

TRANSLATION:

MISTAKES: … I still make mistakes and I fess up. …

PRIORITIES: I have to work on making myself my number one priority in all aspects.

We’ve grown up with this strange idea that being our own priority is bad, that it’s SELFISH until we find ourselves looking around to see who’ll catch us and surprise there’s no one there, so PLEASE WATCH YOUR STEP and avoid falling!!

SELF-IMAGE: HOW YOU SEE AND JUDGE YOURSELF…

TRANSLATION:

SELF-IMAGE: I feel good but sometimes I think I look so-so. I hate the grays. I can’t believe haircoloring will be a part of my life from now on. I sometimes get spooked by the wrinkles in my eyes. I don’t think I’ll ever be a size 6 again. I try not to compare myself with my past, how I looked then, but sometimes it’s innevitable. Just the other day I read on OPRAH magazine that “people change, we are not meant to look the same after all these years” and that really made sense to me. AHA moment!!

But you know what, I feel that slowly but surely SIZE/ WEIGHT will lose their importance as an expression of beauty and transform into a factor of vitality and longevity…we’ll always strive to look good but FEELING GOOD will totally surpass it!!!

OK …SO THIS WAS PART TWO…IN A FEW DAYS YOU’LL BE READING PART THREE!! and wishing my sister-friend a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! so come back soon

  3. I sound so wise, if I may say so myself… hahah, no really, you would have asked me this 10 years ago when I thought I had it together, I didn’t know anything back then. Life is good, sister, Life is good. Thanks for the post, I enjoyed it very much.
