ACT…if I have to have a new year’s resolution…

…then I’m going to make it a good one: ORGANIZATION…aaaaa, that hurt!!

In fact, I’m not going to call it a resolution (because in my brain that translates into AN OBLIGATION and I don’t need more of those) it’s going to be more like BREAKING A BAD HABIT, and believe me it is going to be hard to break…I’ve got this love-hate relationship with many things and ORGANIZATION is one of them…

I know that an organized home evolves into an organized family which awards us with an organized life…

Organization makes tasks easier to accomplish, from preparing lunch to doing the laundry and specially significant when you’re getting ready…

Organization makes a space look bigger, be it your office or your closet…

Being organized puts you in a good mood and that’s good for everyone…

So you see, I’m quite aware of the benefits, but still it’s complicated for me, because it seems that I over-complicate even the simplest of tasks by over-analyzing everything (I think that’s been made clear one blog post after another…)

I get lost in the details…for example a bunch of toy cars, I look at them spread out all over the playroom floor..if there are 30 cars my over-complicated eye sees 60…turning it into an overwhelming task which more often than not I just leave as is and close the door behind me…but when I do try to organize I can’t decide if I should do it (following with the toy car example) by type of car (sports car, race car, truck, etc.), by color, by size, by brand…aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa and to do this I go lurking in every closet looking for shoe boxes to put each category in and start a brand new mess: SHOES

And I won’t go into every part of my house that’s in a haphazard state…you should see my painting supplies…on second thought NO, YOU SHOULDN’T SEE MY PAINTING SUPPLIES  and worst of all when I have to lug everything to my painting class I look like a combination bag lady and door-to-door art supplies salesperson…

the funny thing is that from looking at me, I’ve been told, you would never guess my messy background…

but I do need to break the habit or GET INTO THE HABIT and to do that the first thing I see in every article I read is BASKETS, CRATES, PLASTIC COLOR CODED BOXES, LABELS and the COLOR WHITE as a blank canvas which takes me to the interpretation of ORGANIZATION as a form of ART …wow, this is going to be tough, though ART has always been my thing…

OK so I’m going to need some GOOD tips…what else do I need to do….aaahhh look at what I found…this’ll really come in handy

by Leigh Wells for Conquering the To-Do List from The Wall Street Journal WORK&FAMILY

So, let me do some research (jejeje could this be PROCRASTINATING? hmmm…I think I’m going to have a second RESOLUTION/BAD HABIT TO BREAK…)

Stay tuned!!
